Get to know Garry

I joined the financial services industry in December 1982, so I’ve had over 40 years working in an industry that I love. I’ve also been lucky to work for some great businesses and people during that time, which has allowed me to grow as a person and achieve a career I wouldn’t have thought possible when I left school at 15 (many moons ago!) with very few qualifications.

Outside of work

My passions are golf, watching any sport (especially football, cricket, F1 and golf), running, listening to music, reading a good book, and spending time with family and friends.

What do love about your job?
To me, financial planning is a way of helping individuals achieve their dreams and helping them avoid any financial nightmares. So, working with a team at Flying Colours who share that passion is fantastic. While I’ve been in this industry a long time, it’s great to be part of a business that’s looking to help shape the future, and every day is a learning experience.
What do you love about Flying Colours?
The culture, the people, what we do, and how we do it. At Flying Colours, we care about our clients and delivering excellent advice and service. That ethos is personified by every member of the team and how they all approach their roles within Flying Colours.
Absolute loves
Family, cars, golf, running, rum, holidays, West Ham United, DIY, music, and coffee – not necessarily in that order!
Pet hates
Unnecessary bureaucracy, bad drivers, poor service, and arrogant people.
