Discretionary service

This is an investment management offering where investment decisions are made on your behalf by a portfolio manager.

This service includes the Flying Colours Investment Portfolios, which are a collection of funds within each risk targeted portfolio that are managed on an ongoing basis by our experienced Investment Team. These portfolios are exclusively available to clients of Flying Colours Advice Limited.

We believe that diversification of asset classes is crucial to managing risk and achieving long-term investment success. For this reason, we use assets including equities, fixed income and alternatives, amongst others.

Our Investment Committee meets monthly and can make changes to the models, including tilting our asset allocation to take advantage of market movement and provide the best outcome for our clients.

These portfolios are managed on a discretionary basis, which means we can make changes without express client consent. This enables us to be more proactive to market signals. In addition to making fund switches, our portfolios are rebalanced quarterly to ensure they remain aligned to your risk profile and our investment philosophy.

Our plan is simple. We build portfolios that are:

Spread across a wide range of assets and across the world

Most likely to deliver opportunities to improve returns over the long-term

Invested in assets that ensure we have downside protection in case we enter a bear market

The Flying Colours portfolios

We understand that you want to invest an amount of money sensibly and see a return in the future. So, we keep things simple. Experience tells us that this approach to investing leads to better results as well as removing some of the associated risk. By keeping things simple, we keep costs under control too.

We currently have two sets of portfolios: Core and ESG. Each is made up of six portfolios, which align to different risk profiles, offering you a choice of funds to invest in.

Core portfolios

Ranging from ‘defensive’ to ‘aggressive’ these portfolios invest in a variety of funds which include bonds, UK equities, global equities and specialist areas such as natural resources. The proportion of money invested will vary according to the risk profile of each. Your financial adviser will guide you towards the most suitable portfolios to achieve your financial goals.

ESG portfolios

ESG stands for Environmental, Social and Governance. This form of investing is not just about protecting the environment and being “green”. Instead, it has a broader focus on investing in businesses which can demonstrate that they have a robust approach to corporate governance and diversity, and/or are making a positive impact on the world and its people.

Each of the portfolios aligns with the risk profiles of our ‘Core’ portfolios detailed above.
