Get to know George

I’m a Chartered financial planner and retirement planning specialist. I strongly believe there are few things as important as improving the lives of you and your family. The time you have with the people you care about and your experiences in life are your most valuable asset. My job is to ensure you achieve the life you’ve worked hard for.

Chances are you may have a question about your pension, an investment, or how to navigate a transition in your life. Butwhat keeps you up at night is probably a broader question of: “Do we have enough?” or “Are we making expensive mistakes?”

My job is to answer those questions and bring your ideal future into the present so you can make the right choices now. I’ll work with you to fill the gap between information and application so you reach your goals. I’ll act as a trusted adviser and your personal finance coach. I have a wealth of experience across pensions, investments, protection, and tax planning, and will help you to answer these big questions.

Outside of work

In addition to my professional work, one of my main passions is improving financial education. To help address this, I’ve volunteered as a financial education champion delivering sessions in schools through the Personal Finance Society. I run an education site and Youtube channel called Principles Personal Finance. These videos have 8.3k subscribers and counting and have amassed over 600,000 views.

I’ve been shortlisted for Best Education Initiative 2021 at the Next Gen Planners Awards and featured on the BBC, the Daily Express, and some of the largest money podcasts in the UK.

When I’m not working (which my wife reminds me is often too much), I can be found spending time with my wife, trying to convince her to get a dog, and keeping fit at the gym.

I literally read pensions and finance topics in my spare time. My wife pokes fun at me for that, a lot!

What do you love about Flying Colours?
We’re a medium-sized company with a family feel. Saying “you put the client first” is often overused, but in this case it’s at the heart of everything we do and how we do it. We’re fully independent and holistic, so our loyalty can be to our clients. This feeds through to our evidence-based investment philosophy and how we put cashflow modelling at the starting point of how we advise clients.
Absolute loves
I do enjoy the gym, I like to learn, LOVE DOGS, World Cups, and family-orientated people.
Pet hates
People who don’t like dogs (seriously, what is wrong with you?), sitting on the phone chasing pension providers, not a fan of cold weather, small airline seats, and people who sit in front and pull back the seat. I’m 6ft 3!
